Your studio is the controller and the data sits in your own accounts, in the EU if you choose. Personal data and salaries sit encrypted in the Vault, every read logged. One action erases what SAM keeps about a person.

You can, and with AI coding it is easier than ever. SAM gives you a head start: it grew over many months of daily use in a working game studio, went through many rounds of changes, and handles the cases you only meet in practice. You start from that and customise it, instead of starting from an empty repository.
For trying SAM out, the free plan is enough. For daily use we recommend Workers Paid at $5 a month for the whole account, however many people use SAM. The free plan allows only 10 ms of processing per request, and heavier work such as everyone's leave balances, a year of reports or the nightly backup can go past that and fail now and then. Workers Paid allows far more and includes 10 million requests a month, which a studio of a few hundred people will not reach. The databases, file storage and Vault access stay within Cloudflare's free allowances for a studio of this size. R2 file storage asks for a payment method even on the free plan.
